Nasal Forceps

  • Nasal forceps are surgical instruments used in ENT (Ear, Nose & Throat) practice.

  • Their primary roles include grasping, holding, removing or manipulating soft tissues, nasal polyps, foreign bodies, or dressings inside the nasal cavity.

  • They are also used in procedures such as polypectomy, septoplasty, sinus surgery, postoperative care (e.g. removing dressings or packs) and for dealing with epistaxis (nosebleeds).

ComponentTypical Design / Features
Jaws / TipCan be smooth, serrated, fenestrated (with holes) or cup‑shaped depending on function. E.g. fenestrated oval jaws for removing tissue or bone in restricted sinus areas.
Shape of Shaft / NeckUsually long and slender; sometimes angled or with a bayonet‑shape so the surgeon’s hands/fingers don’t block view and access.
HandleRing handles (finger rings), sometimes larger rings for comfort/control. Some models with cushioned or ergonomic grip.
Joint / HingeTypically riveted or screwed; robust enough to withstand repeated use.
