Suction Raspatories

A suction raspatory combines features of a raspatory (scraping / shaving / smoothing bone or hard tissue) with suction, allowing simultaneous removal of fluids, bone debris, or soft tissue. It's often used in ENT, maxillofacial, plastic surgery, or any procedure needing bone smoothing in confined spaces while keeping the surgical field clear.

FeatureTypical Specs / Purpose
General Use• Scraping / rasping bone surfaces (e.g. after cutting or splitting bone)
• Removing foreign bodies, bone fragments, fluid, blood from surgical site
• Reducing need to switch between separate rasp tools and suction tools — improves efficiency and cleanliness.
Shape / ProfileUsually an angled or bayonet‑shaped tube so it can conform to anatomy (e.g. nasal cavity) and reach narrow/deep areas.
Suction Port / DiameterHas a suction port near the tip of the raspatory. Common port diameters are 4.0 mm and 5.0 mm for aspirating fluids.
Handle / GripOften includes a lateral grip plate for comfortable holding. Some models have finger valve(s) to cut off suction as needed.
LengthAround 20 cm (≈ 8″) is a common overall length. Helps reach sufficiently deep but maintain control.
Working End ProfileThe raspating end is “sharp” – meaning it can scrape or smooth hard tissue
Designed for combined functions: raspatory + suction. It enables the surgeon to scrape, smooth, or rasp bone surfaces, edges, or irregular hard tissue, and at the same time remove fluids (blood, tissue debris, bone particles) from the surgical site.  Used in ENT, plastic surgery, maxillofa..
